Testing my GoPro

I bought a GoPro whilst i was in the USA back in January.
They are only £100 over there so i just had to get one.
Today was the 1st time ive used it so i took it for a spin on my bike
to work out how it works etc. Check out the youtube of it.
My friend who works for a boat building company has made me an attachment for my
Bodyboard so i am now looking forward to getting it in the sea.

I have just got home from a surf trip to Morocco. I was invited by Rob Barber editor of Threesixty bodyboard magazine. Morocco was never a place i had thought about going but being invited on this trip was to good to turn down plus its another stamp in my passport. The magazines mission was to search for new waves, collect images to be stock piled for the next 4 issues of the magazine, Video to be used for rider profiles and video tutorials as well as the main trip podcast. All the riders on the trip were super cool to surf and hang out with. We found a sick new wedge and also found the top secret slab THE GRASSY KNOLL. As far as i know we all did alright for images but i guess we will all have to wait and see.

Pearl of Saltash

The Pearl of Saltash was my dads old boat. My dad sold it when he got ill and since he passed away back in 2004 the owner of the boat has just let it rot. The Pearl was my dads pride and joy. Makes me a tiny bit angry to see it like this today. The thing i like most about this shot is the cross on top of the cabin.

2010 Auto Sleepers British Nationals Porthtowan Cornwall

I spent this weekend down in Porthtowan Cornwall. I was competing in the 2010 Auto Sleepers British Bodyboard Nationals. The surf was offshore and pumping on the Saturday but the wind went onshore for Sunday. I was unlucky and got knocked out in the quarter final. I just couldn't find a good 2nd wave to back my 1st wave score up so bailed out of the contest. This contest was the last event of the 2010 British tour. At the start of the tour i set myself a goal of finishing it in the top 5 and i pulled it off with a 4th place so i am more than happy. This weekends contest will go down as one of the best events ever due to the waves and the high standard of riding. A huge congratulations goes to the event winner and tour winner JACK JOHNS. Njoy!

I bailed on work yesterday for some south coast action.
I jumped off the rocks at Porthleven at 7am and i was in the water for a good 3 hours.
I had good waves but it felt like the swell was fading with the dropping tide.
When i got out my friend said he was still keen for a few more waves so we headed to a near by semi secret spot that we both love to surf and oh my god am i glad we did the place was like a half pipe. Here is a frame grab of me that Andrew Course sent me. Very happy with yesterdays surf.

I had a call from Rob Barber editor of Threesixty Bodyboard Magazine on Tuesday afternoon. He said they were having a huge office clean up and that he had a few magazines i might be interested in. I called in to the office just before the wedge contest on Wednesday to pick them up. I already had a lot of the issues he gave me but i was really interested on getting my hands and eyes on the real early issues. He also gave me loads of Riptides, Vert, Bodyboarding, Bodyboarder. Today i spent the morning sorting through what issues i had and what i didn't. I am now only missing issues 4, 6, 7 and 80 of Threesixty and i will have every single one. I know some people may think this is VERY SAD but i don't. I have a lot of doubles now so if you are a collector like me and have the issues i am after lets do business.

Swell Has Arrived

The swell arrived late last night and i can not tell you how happy i was to see perfect right hand wedges from the check point above Mawgan Porth this morning.
I could not wait to get in to my rubber and get out there. It has been way to long since Cornwall has had some decent swell.

Another bodyboarder was swimming around the line up with a water proof compact. Here is a shot i stole from his facebook. Nothing amazing just a little skid for him and his compact.

I got out of bed early this morning thinking may be the new swell might have hit our coastline early but i was wrong. I logged on to www.magicseaweed.com and checked the Fistral camera and it was flat so i decided to go for a ride. I went to Plym Valley its a great ride from Coypool to Clearbrook and back and is around 15 miles in total. I snapped a few shots and a couple of videos on my compact for this blog nothing special but check them out.

My wife and i have treated ourselves to new bikes.
Today was the first time i really got to test mine out at Cann woods in Plymouth.
My bike and i got filthy thanks to the rain we have been having but i had so much fun. I cant wait to get back out there. My new bike is a Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc 2011. Love it.

Greenaway Pro 2010

I entered the Open Bodyboard at the Greenaway Pro on Friday 20th August.
The guys behind the Greenaway Pro really know how to put on a great Contest and i would have to say it is one of the best in the UK. The guys throw an awesome party as well. The competition was tough and this year the British Bodyboard Club included the event as one of the stops on the tour, all the top guys were after the points with only 2 events left this contest was an important one. I am happy to have taken 2nd and i have now climbed to 3rd place on the British Bodyboard tour rankings.

NMD DECADE LIMITED EDITION

I added the DECADE to my collection this morning. There is only 24 in the world and i own number 5. This is what the man himself MEZ had to say about the board -

Hi Aaron,

The NMD Decade was a limited edition board for our 10th year anniversary. The channels are hand shaped as per what I do for my custom team rider boards. They have a smooth entry point with a parallel profile transitioning to a deeper exit. I used an Opaque/ White 3mm 8lb PE deck with a mesh underlay through the centre of the boards contour. The Decade is a PP core, but the 3mm deck/ contour/ mesh set-up gives the board a nice flex, though is probably best suited for warmer waters (I personally like my boards stiff in all water temps). The template is wider than Ben's and Winny's signature models, but I think this is a good thing as it helps with buoyancy, an essential element in smaller, weaker wave conditions.

Its no secret that i am in love with Mother Iveys.
I just can not get enough of her right hand wedges.
She hardly ever breaks in the summer but last week i was lucky enough to get some tunnel vision in the sun whilst wearing a 3x2 wetsuit.

With all the weak summer swell we have been having in Cornwall lately i have found myself standing up on my bodyboard a fair bit. The other day i was visiting Action Sports Distribution to pick up my new Stealth swim fins when i spotted this cool looking softboard in the corner. I mentioned that i am keen to get my feet on one and they have kindly sorted me out a bargain.
